PCB Engineering

With the help of highly advanced CAE/CAD software, Takius designs multilayer printed circuit boards. For devices with significant construction and assembly complexity, we use 3D cad files, supplied by the customer, which we import and from which we start the mechanical design of the boards.

We design PCBs with impedance-controlled tracks and pin-pairs (e.g. bus, differential signals, etc.), or with signal shielding (coaxial routing). Particular care is taken in the design of ground planes and power supplies, especially for devices where the inductance of the tracks creates critical operation such as power boards or high-frequency equipment. The know-how attained guarantees the development of printed circuit boards in full compliance with the insulations established by the sector regulations and the type of device classification, and with the containment of emissions in order to obtain CE marking. Thanks to the tests and methodology applied, the PCBs we produce are manufacturable (DFM) and testable (DFT).

All the technical documentation required for the completion of technical dossiers and specifications is provided.

Types of components used MCU, CPU, FPGA, RFID, Cellular Engine GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE, BLUETOOTH, WiFi, USB, ETH, SMARTCARD, SD CARD, GPS and microprocessors for embedded PCs etc.

Knowledge of the various types of components from industrial to MIL to RADHARD components for aerospace applications.

With the support of established partners, we are able to manage the procurement of electronic and electromechanical components for prototyping or series production through assembly, functional and reliability testing.

Electronic Design

For those working in the electronic design sector, it is not easy to be an innovative reference point. Electronics is, in fact, certainly the most evolving sector, and being 'in step' with the times means engaging in constant application, study and experimentation in the various fields of electronic technology. Research and development, therefore, are primary and fundamental factors of our activity, which is structured with a technical department, laboratories for experimentation activities with suitable equipment and competent in-house personnel. Upon specific request, we can develop research initiatives in exclusivity with the client company and participate in all production study activities.

We know that every industrial sector has different needs and problems to consider. Not everyone has the need to miniaturise electronics or to use only state-of-the-art components. Not everyone has the need to design with microprocessors. Some sectors use 'radio frequency' technology, others 'infrared' or 'ultrasound', others 'optoelectronics' .

Since, therefore, electronic design is an activity that requires expertise, common sense, knowledge of specific requirements, seriousness and confidentiality, we put in place design procedures that include:

  • analysis of customer requirements and collection of specifications

  • verification of reference standards

  • feasibility study and budgeting

  • hardware design and software development

  • printed circuit design

  • materials and components research

  • prototype realisation, sampling, testing, laboratory tests

  • functional analysis and project validation

  • production process development

  • series production

  • testing, certification and manuals

Our 20 years' experience in product engineering will ensure that the printed circuit board will be manufactured with the lowest possible production costs and availability of the components used.
The project will be delivered with all the necessary technical documentation (diagram, parts list, gerber, user manual, etc., etc.).
On request, we can follow the equipment through the process to obtain any certifications (CE, electromagnetic compatibility, etc.).

Firmware
Firmware Development

We develop any type of firmware and embedded software to meet customer specifications. Firmware design for microcontroller boards (from 8 bits to 32 bits) of the most popular families: Microchip, Atmel, NXP, STMicroelectronics and more. The implementation of real-time communication protocols is certainly one of the main focuses, whether these are standard or according to customer specifications. We also port firmware on obsolete microcontrollers to those produced with newer technologies.
